Rumley DOES NOT want you to hear this on TV!

Roy Belson, Superintendent of Schools

Medford, MA 02155

Mr. Belson,

A Medford teacher, Jonathan Streff, assigned the Great Debate to his students. Did I hear correctly that you think the Debate is not "educational" and that you have taken it upon yourself to CENSOR the educational program from airwaves WE PAY FOR,
keeping Mike McGlynn and Mark Rumley's vulgar Media Blackout in place so that the citizens remain uninformed?

You should resign IMMEDIATELY if that is the case.  Here are the facts:

Citizens are outraged hearing that you are censoring the debate from the high school channe

Back in 2007 TV3 pulled a Paul Donato video censoring Stephanie Muccini-Burke talking about TV3.  It was pure censorship with Rep Donato outraged and saying to the Transcript: "It’s the public’s right to listen to political speech. It’s the most protected right. I was just flabbergasted.”   I'll happily send you the link if you want to read more.

Yesterday, you, the Superintendent of Schools, Roy Belson, reportedly refused to play "the Great Debate"  on the advice and opinion of Solicitor Rumley, which, clearly, came from Mayor McGlynn.
Mark Rumley who would find censorship "repugnant" censors with impunity. He tried that stunt at the Medford Housing Authority till I told that charlatan to sit down.  He complied.

This educational video, something Medford High School students were there to study, is essential. We citizens are tired of Nell Escobar Coakley spinning the election the Mayor's way; Roy Belson being nothing but a puppet for the Chairman of the School Committee, the citizens are ripped off and cheated by the jokers in control and now...we can't see OUR video on OUR station?

"Several dozen Medford High School students also attended the debate, including juniors Lucy Heinze and Camila Hollingsworth, who took notes during the event as part of an extra-credit assignment for their Honors U.S. History class taught by Jonathan Streff.

Both students are 16 and not yet eligible to vote, but they said the debate changed the candidate they would support in the Nov. 3 election.

“Before we came in, we both said Burke,” Heinze said. “But after this, I would change and say Penta.”

So if the perception from the students is that one candidate did a better job than another, should
the Superintendent of schools fracture the First Amendment for political reasons?  These people
work for us, not the other way around.

Why is our City Solicitor giving a legal opinion to the high school?  Don't they have their own lawyers?  My understanding is that the solicitor defends the council and the mayor.  I have on tape Mr. Rumley attempting to interrupt my question at the Medford Housing Authority - until I told him to sit down, which he complied with.

Here's an opinion from Mark Rumley on free speech:

City Solicitor Mark E. Rumley / Medford Daily Mercury
on or about Nov. 16, 2008 (quoted from the 2nd Judge Jackson-Thompson hearing a day or so earlier) saying:

“The one sentiment that I have heard that I take great exception to is that the city is trying to limit speech,” said Rumley. “The notion the city would censor or squelch free speech is baseless and as city solicitor I would find any such effort repugnant.”

Perhaps our esteemed city solicitor never thought people would collect his quotes?

Bottom line is, as a woman said on Facebook: "Well, start calling! City Solicitor Rumley: 781-393-2470 (markrumley@medford.org). Superintendent Belson: 781-393-2442 (rbelson@medford.k12.ma.us). No matter who you support, that debate should be televised!

I put my trust in Mark Rumley as City Solicitor and got slapped in the face.

Here we go again.   All I am trying to do is HELP our community while Rumley harms us.

Censorship is the flower of Mark Rumley's efforts to benefit McGlynn, who was so closely aligned with the crooked sheriff James V. DiPaola.  What does that tell you?

Enough of this censorship.  The Mayor received a proposal from me in March, when he requested proposals, to put an access station together.  I knew the Mayor wouldn't put one together prior to the election - and I'm not a psychic.  It's just obvious how crooked McGlynn is, taking our money, censoring us, and having Rumley as his foul mouthpiece.

Enough is enough.  They run Medford like a bunch of gangsters.  I believe Rumley and McGlynn with that violent clerk Ed Finn want to steal the election.  I believe that with every fiber of my being.  Mark Rumley Cannot Be Trusted.

Sincerely,

Joe Viglione
