TOP 10 - PLUS - The Censorship Tactics at the City Council

There are numerous ways government officials in Medford attempt to censor us.

Amy M:

I'm all for speaking up and speaking out but they literally have no control over who is on that team. They can't put people on it, they can't take people off it.

Talking through all the team members (or the team as a whole) with the council would be no better than talking with a therapist or friends -- just venting -- because they can't take any action.

I can see how it might feel personal to really care about an issue, put it on the agenda and want to talk about it and feel like the response was "we're not talking about, too bad for you" but I think it's actually a *positive* to have a city council that wants to stick to talking (at council meetings anyway) about the things they CAN and have the power/authority to change.

It's a more efficient use of time and more effective use of their legislative authority. I feel like asking the city council to talk about the transition team is like asking a baseball coach what to do in the 4th quarter -- it's an important and necessary conversation with big consequences but addressed to the wrong person.

Joe Viglione:
Amy, I respectfully say you could not be more wrong.

The lack of transparency in Medford and the quid pro quo and the insider trading is paramount, that's #1. #2 - the current city council has 5 individuals who will vote one way, so there is absolutely no balance.

We have no public access TV and "the people's forum" is used to censor residents. Ranting is what the councilors do congratulating members of Local 25 or their own families ...it's absurd, they think they are stars of the show rather than public servants. Interesting that the residents are far more articulate than most of the stumbling councilors getting paid $30K plus a year to ramble on about nothing.

Wake up, Medford. I'm happy you brought this point up, Amy, and you have an interesting perspective leaving out one thing: the public's voice when something is not working properly. The Transition Team is INVISIBLE to the residents of Medford, and you are so wrong giving credit to Dello Russo censoring YOU and the public from knowing who and what this team is all about.

The Medford City Council has an agenda and it is more about giving themselves raises than helping you or me. Haven't you got that yet?
