(WWLP) – Most school superintendents make six-figure salaries and we’re paying for it. The 22News I-Team reveals how much they make, as well as the “perks” some of them receive. The 22News I-Team spent months requesting and going through these contracts. We discovered there’s more in those contracts than just a dollar sign, such as Nantucket’s superintendent, who receives an $18,000 housing allowance. Paul Andrews, Director of Professional Development and Government Services for the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents, said, “They are the C.E.O.’s of the school district.” And they’re paid like it, with our tax dollars. The 22News I-Team went through 240 superintendent contracts across the state. The average superintendent salary in western Massachusetts is $138,863, and statewide, the average superintendent salary is $161,133. |
