La Donald in Reverse

There's the Door, Donald!

Donald Trump's beloved polls have betrayed him.

Trump uses polls the way other people use love from a child or a good report card: as validation that all is right with the world and that he's doing okay. At nearly every campaign stop and in nearly every campaign speech, Trump mentions the polls, usually cherry-picking the ones that offer the most emotional support and occasionally sort of generalizing a broad sense of what the polls are doing.
"Now recent polls have shown that I'm beating Hillary Clinton," Trump said during his speech Tuesday night, "and with all of her many problems and the tremendous mistakes that she's made -- and she has tremendous mistakes -- we expect our lead to continue to grow and grow substantially."
But that's not happening.

Even before the Democratic Party has united around its nominee, Hillary Clinton, Trump's improvement in polling against Clinton appears to have stalled -- because support for him has dropped.
