The driver, a 17-year-old male, was arrested, according to Middlesex DA Marian Ryan and Medford Police Chief Leo Sacco, Jr. He has been charged with operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of an accident causing death, operating to endanger and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Investigators believe the teen, who has a learner's permit but does not have a license, was under the influence of a drug at the time of the crash, according to the DA's office.
He was arraigned Monday in Cambridge Juvenile Court.
