Where Is Public Access TV? An Editorial by Joe Viglione

MEDFORD HAS NEVER HAD PUBLIC ACCESS TELEVISION

An Editorial by Access TV Veteran Joseph Viglione

Where is the community participation?  Why does one man's video work get lots of views when the city's own YouTube channel has little or no excitement?  Let's take a deep look at the problem with the city of Medford and its failure to offer access TV to the citizens paying for it.

As of 8:18 am on July 25, 2018, there are 145 views of the July 19, 2018 Cable Advisory Board on Facebook's Real Medford Mass Politics and 25 additional views on YouTube.   In six days.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tFZwJorxD4&feature=youtu.be

To put this into perspective, Mayor Muccini-Burke's June 18, 2018 school committee meeting has a mere 58 views on the city's own YouTube page over a five week period.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF4MfjuZkZ8&t=0s&list=PLzirU1ZRNPaYsja-DMUb6ez26dIOMA0Zm&index=2

Solicitor Mark E. Rumley concocted a dastardly censorship plan, a 4-5 page indemnification agreement that includes a C.O.R.I check on cable subscribers, a system in place purportedly to ensnare politicians running for office who may be aligned against the current Administration - ostensibly so that  Muccini-Burke and Rumley can spy on the competition - while those who rent the high school out are not subjected to a C.O.R.I. check, according to the rental agreement this writer viewed.

State Representative Paul Donato showed me his office one day, and Solicitor Rumley had an office inside Donato's Spring Street Medford office.  Why?
Allegedly, Mark E. Rumley was running his own business out of Donato's office, allegedly moonlighting on Thursdays as an alleged bill collector at Somerville District Court.   Keep in mind, the top chef at SDC, Magistrate Robert "Ted" Tomasone, resigned in disgrace in December of 2017 in a courthouse that one bailiff at another court told this reporter "Somerville (District Court) - it's the worst."

This writer beat the drum about and against Tomasone, who allegedly called himself "ballgame Teddy," for the better part of a decade.   Inside legal documents as a sort of a veiled threat was one court paper that said "get this nut job out of my courthouse."  It was signed "ballgame Teddy" (Tomasone was a big fan of Ted Williams,) so we don't know who slipped that paper in to allegedly threaten a victim, but with Tomasone's resignation,  and other allegations that appear to back up the remark from the other court, and given the deceptions from Mr. Rumley, how can we trust a city lawyer who attempted to investigate a board of directors that he was appointed to?

When a city lawyer is the point man standing in the way of freedom of the press, getting thrown off of a witness stand September 1, 2016 for throwing  proverbial rocks at a victim in a hearing to EXTEND A RESTRAINING ORDER to protect the victim, when Rumley then starts hanging out with the defense for the stalker, which included members of Medford Community Cablevision, Inc., the very board Rumley sat on and claimed he was going to investigate (he didn't,) then you know the cable TV subscribers have had their monies hijacked by the two Administrations and the solicitor, Rumley.

Rumley, very much like Donald Trump - can we call him Trumley(??,) Solicitor Mark E. Trumpley doesn't give a damn about the residents of Medford.

Like Muccini-Burke and Council President Rick Caraviello, who lied to the Medford Police Department in a document presented in a criminal case in Cambridge District Court, those three petty individuals in particular suffer from low self-image and need to attack the public they are paid to serve.

That means no criticism whatsoever of their offensive wrongful conduct.

So Mark E. Rumley placed his city e mail on the Immaculate Conception Church website claiming to be a "permanent deacon."  Mr. Rumley is no longer a deacon at that church.  This writer demanded he change it to a Gmail account and Mr. Rumley complied, but the arrogance, the chutzpah, so overwhelming and wrong, it demands a public apology and a resignation.

DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH!   It is all about how much money they can grab for bloated salaries (in Caraviello's case, he votes for his own pay raise. Think about it,) and how many attacks and insults they can toss at the elder community, at minorities, it's just a sick game where these sociopaths, these anti-social - not as much asocial - these anti-social -

contrary to the laws and customs of society; devoid of or antagonistic to sociable instincts or practices.

- individuals will lie to the face of a retired judge without even having their fingers crossed behind their back:

Check out this malarkey from Solicitor Trumpley as printed in the now defunct Medford Daily Mercury on or about Nov. 16, 2008 (quoted from the 2nd Judge Jackson-Thompson hearing) saying:

“The one sentiment that I have heard that I take great exception to is that the city is trying to limit speech,” said Rumley. “The notion the city would censor or squelch free speech is baseless and as city solicitor I would find any such effort repugnant.”

What is repugnant is Muccini-Burke's unqualified "Cable Advisory Board" is slow as molasses and not very keen on the public seeing their incompetence on Facebook live.  The trio, which includes amateurish Jay Campbell, an individual who sticks to Muccini-Burke like glue, is a disaster.

There is an accusation that someone gave Stephanie Muccini-Burke the questions that would be asked at "The Great Debate" held on October 15, 2015, when she ran for mayor.

Campbell allegedly was behind Muccini-Burke and allegedly Muccini-Burke had the questions in advance, so now Jay Campbell is the "chair" of the Cable Advisory Board.   One resident saying point blank: "Campbell is a fraud."

Watch the Facebook Live videos that this reporter has documented and watch Campbell's inability to run a simple meeting, watch Yvette Wilks - a board member of Somerville Media Center - another station with its own set of ugly problems - show up late for a meeting, and watch Gabby Follett-Sumney who admits she doesn't know much about Medford nor does she know much about public access television.

Those are, actually,  perfect qualifications for a deceitful mayor indulging in deceptive business practices.   https://www.gfollettsumney.com/

The Medford City Council was told sometime around April of 2018 NOT to trust the alleged access station manager, not ready-for-prime-time Ben Brown, to install new equipment.  Of course the insubordinate city council, intentionally ignorant of the fact that we are their bosses, ignored sound advice from an access TV veteran with experience spanning 39 years.  ON Friday the 13th of April, 2018, Ben Brown just up and quit, leaving the city council with bizarre cablecasts where the audio said one thing while the lips moved like some poorly dubbed foreign movie.

You know what happens when you have a substandard station manager (Medford's had six in a row,) and an ineffective Cable Advisory Board?

It means no criticism whatsoever of this Administration's offensive wrongful conduct.
  • It's 8:55 am July 25th 2018.

  • Where is your access TV, Medford?

Does anyone know how much money Verizon and Comcast collect from the franchise fee?   How much money city hall is paid and where every nickel of that money goes?

It's dark matter...real dark matter...and don't expect a complicit Cable Advisory Board to get you the answers, they are mere puppets - unqualified and doing the bidding of an indecent mayor who has a scurrilous way of engaging in dialog.  She basically called her opponent in the 2015 election a Homophobe when that fellow is a champion of the gay community.

File under: Democrats Behaving Like Donald J. Trump

You have no access television.  You have a mayor who may have received questions in advance at a debate, disparaging her opponent in an ugly, divisive, and immoral way, and her husband, court clerk Brian S. Burke, caught breaking the canon of ethics and calling a videographer a "motherxxxx" (mother blanker) until Muccini-Burke allegedly sent him to his room without supper.

Rather than serve the public, Mr. Rumley goes into overdrive besmirching and attacking citizens working hard to benefit the community.

Look, this is about the community.  I could get struck by lightning tomorrow, but if my efforts on behalf of public media benefit the seniors, the children, the cable TV subscribers, the citizens, businesses and civic groups, then I can go to my grave satisfied that I did my very best to help the community.

Thugs like the participants in this offensive Muccini-Burke Administration have no shame.  They sleep real well at night as they've become so comfortable in their lies and deceptions to the Medford community that they actually believe their own palavering, the unseemly rigmarole designed to keep the citizens they are obligated to serve deep in the dark.
