Dearest William:

1)Thank you so much for being a faithful reader.

2)I have removed the post that contained your essay

3)Your letter is well written - AND you included your address.
Do you know how many tips and comments we get anonymously?  They LOVE this magazine, they just fear
retaliation from elected officials and like to steer clear of
the Medford gestapo.   We hear a vindictive individual may
soon run the DPW

You write:

As a professional writer, I have not found your name published on the internet or anywhere else that would indicate that you are in that league.

You can send your resume' and 8 x 10 glossy to Human Services* if you have proof that your etchings fetch those kind of numbers.

In any court of law  (and I'm not a lawyer, though you seem to think you are, I say respectfully,) you would have to show the value of your writing to be $500.00 for 3 paragraphs or so.   As the material - in my professional opinion - is/was what Solicitor Mark Rumley would so eloquently call a "nonsensical rant"  we could, in the fairness of justice, pay you $2.50 for it, not because it is valued at the price, but because it is so silly and proves a point.

Honestly, your letter was far more intriguing (and better written) than the nonsense that you want $500.00 for.

But you continue to amuse me, and that you paid 49 cents to brighten my day (see below) and wrote so professionally is to your credit.  I grade your letter A+, though misguided, and your Facebook essay C-.

Keep up the good work. When you make people smile, it is a good thing.

Respectfully,

Editor Joe Vig

(On a more serious note: Your letter made me smile because of your address.

It is too personal to discuss online but you truly made my day as I met someone after going to the Napolean Club in 1995 and that was on 52 Piedmont St.  Perhaps I will tell Rachel the significance of the timing.  But I truly thank you for the message from the cosmos.)

the esteemed Napolean Club.
The former Napoleon Club — a go-to piano bar for generations of Bostonians — is now a crown jewel in Bay Village on sale for $1.85 million.
The former lounge at 52 Piedmont St. existed on the site for more than 40 years, from the 1950s until 1998, when the previous owner abruptly closed it down.
