North Quincy High field dedication spurs controversy ...will Muccini-Burke and Roy Belson name the Field of Dreams the new

Jenna-Smith Playground?

QUINCY - Mayor Thomas Roy Kochfxxer is drawing criticism over plans to dedicate the new athletic field at North Quincy High School to a prominent Quincy family that includes a school superintendent who resigned in 1984 over allegations that he had inappropriately touched students.

The field dedication honoring the Creedon family is scheduled for Saturday. The family includes a deputy fire chief, a school cafeteria worker, military veterans and two former Quincy Public Schools superintendents.

But school committee member Anne Mahoney and some other residents have concerns with the naming choice because it includes former Superintendent Lawrence "Jenna" Creedon, who resigned after a student and a former student accused him of touching them inappropriately. Those allegations never resulted in criminal charges, but in a later, unrelated case, Creedon admitted to sexually assaulting a mentally ill homeless woman.  Part Parody, mostly truth!
