Dec. 30, 2017: Edwards visits his office “for the purpose of cleaning,” according to a statement from Belson. Edwards claims not to have seen the magazine, but may have thrown it away inadvertently.

Jan. 2, 2018: Students return from Christmas vacation to all Medford Public Schools.
Early January 2018: The in-house custodian who locked the item in Edwards’ office informs Superintendent of Schools Roy Belson.

Early to mid January 2018: Jim Ricciardi, a Medford Police detective and resource officer at the school district, hears about the incident from an uninvolved third party, according to Police Chief Leo Sacco. Ricciardi speaks to Edwards about the matter, but finds no item or incident to investigate.
