Medford parents upset after woman enters McGlynn School complex, takes $800 from classrooms
Many parents learned about the incident from a news report published online Nov. 3, which sparked anger that the district hadn’t notified them.
“That was the main concern,” said a mother with children at both McGlynn schools who did not want to be identified. “They’re very good about putting out calls about other issues, but this no one knew about.”
Belson said he sent a letter to parents about the incident several days later.
“Some people are not happy that we didn’t call everybody up and tell them initially. But my feeling is that no student was in danger,” Belson said. “It was a correctable human error, and we planned to tell people once we had a reasonable chance to find this person.”\

Had the school notified students’ families directly after the incident, Belson said, it would have caused unnecessary worry.
