CPA INFORMATION NIGHT
The
Energy and Environment Office together with the Treasurer-Collector and
Assessor's Offices will be holding an informational meeting at the
Medford Public Library relative to the implementation of the new
Community Preservation
Act.
The meeting is set for
Tuesday,
May 24, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Magoun Room at the Medford Public Library.
Alicia
Hunt, Director of the Energy and Environment Office will be on hand to
provide attendees with an overview of the program and be available to
answer questions regarding the make up of the new Community Preservation
Committee,
the scope of the work of the committee and how expenditure of funds
generated by the act are appropriated.
Also on hand, Treasurer-Collector Ann Marie Irwin and Assessor Ed O'Neil will be available to answer questions relative to the assessment and collection
of the new surcharge as well as exemptions that apply to low income and low-moderate income senior property owners.
Exemption
forms are currently available in the Assessor's Office and online at
http://www.medfordma.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/CPA-Exe-application.pdf.
Property owners filing for the CPA exemption are encouraged to file their exemption forms by
May 25, 2016, if eligible, to avoid having the CPA surcharge on their first quarter preliminary tax bill in
July. Exemption
forms will also be available at the library and the Medford Senior
Center, 101 Riverside Avenue beginning on May 2, 2016.
