7:31 pm April 16 across from the Burlington Mall on Record Store Day 2016 part 1

 6:37 pm Newburh Comics

Bowie, Hendrix, The Doors, Dylan and...Justin Beeeeeeeber?  Sacre bleu....such... SACRILEGE!

Ok, Record Store Day has become way too commercial - which means that the retailers behind this idea succeeded.

It was more fun just a few years back when you could find exquisite deals and get free stuff. Now there are hundreds of people lined up at 8 AM and all the freebies get swiped pronto.

It has become BIG BUSINESS where multi-colored vinyl fetches big prices...some of them flying right to eBay or Amazon, especially when different retailers create their own colors for the vinyl recordings.

Now would you pay twenty or thirty dollars for an album you could purchase at the old Lechmere Sales circa 1971 for about $2.88???

Sure, times change, but the vinyl prices are beyond absurd.  It is a seller's market.

Yesterday, the day before Record Store Day, I purchased about 125 pieces of vinyl for $5.68 or so.   You have to know where to buy!

At Newbury Comics I purchased Black Sabbath's reunion (well, 3/4 of 'em, without drummer Bill Ward but with Ozzie, Iommi and Geezer)...it cost about $6.40 or so, about a half a buck more for a double disc set than the 125 vinyl recordings I got yesterday.

Black Sabbath - 13 - and it's actually a great set of discs, very professional, lots of fun!

The Great Oscar Peterson...a rare 1958 disc...

Oscar never saw those prices when he was alive!!!

Oscar Emmanuel Peterson, CC, CQ, OOnt (August 15, 1925 – December 23, 2007) was a Canadian jazz pianist and composer. He was called the "Maharaja of the keyboard" by Duke Ellington, but simply "O.P." by his friends.[1][2] He released over 200 recordings, won eight Grammy Awards, and received numerous other awards and honours. He is considered one of the greatest jazz pianists,[3] and played thousands of concerts worldwide in a career lasting more than 60 years.

$149 for Bowie?  Heck...I had conversations with David on two occasions, like who needs to spend a buck and a half?   Amazing
