Vigil held after angry mob kills man, transgender woman in Houston
More than 20 people held a vigil Monday in Houston to honor two people beaten and fatally shot by an angry mob.
As many as eight suspects attacked Chante Thompson, a transgender woman, and her friend Willie Sims less than 24 hours earlier, police told KHOU.
Patrick Riggins, Thompson’s former roommate, said Sims took a bullet for Thompson before the group started hitting Thompson and Sims with pipes.
“It was just evil,” Riggins told the Houston station. “Everything that was seen by me was literally evil.”
