Medford At Brink Of High-Risk Coronavirus Community Spread

The city's rate of cases per 100,000 is 7.5 in the most recent state report, just shy of the 8.0 threshold used to determine "high risk."

The Patch has grim news, why is the Transcript not publishing any news? MEDFORD, MA — Medford is still considered a moderate-risk community, according to weekly state data released Thursday. But the city's case count and positive test rates continue to rise, with 64 confirmed cases over the last two weeks.

Seventy-seven communities across the Commonwealth were labeled high risk, or "red," Thursday, up from 63 from last week. Medford stayed in the "yellow" range with an average daily rate of 7.5 cases per 100,000, up from 6.69 last week, according to state data.
That's trending in the wrong direction toward 8 cases per 100,000, which is the state's metric for designating a community as high risk. State officials have said that high-risk communities, along with those considered high risk in the past two updates, cannot move on to the next phase of reopening. https://patch.com/massachusetts/medford/medford-coronavirus-rate-rises-no-change-risk-level
