REAL MEDFORD MASS POLITICS

When Paul Camuso and I agree on something, and we both have discussed Ruggiero on numerous occasions, it is like Washington and Moscow finding that rare moment of détente On Mr. Ruggiero both Camuso and I are in total absolute agreement. The guy doesn't quite have Medford's best interests at heart.

WE GET LETTERS

A few people on the charter review committee have expressed reservations about home rule - that it could potentially ruin real charter reform. Plus, we have such a weak city council under the current charter that almost any charter change would benefit city councilors. I can't see a selfish reason for him to have voted this down - there wouldn't be anything in it for him.

JOE V RESPONDS TO AMY

The Charter Review Committee  has changed dramatically from when Dr. Storella and Robert Cappucci brought it to the public's attention, and when Anthony D'Antonio was working for the people. Their view was pure: to get the people aware of what a charter is (most didn't know.) Now Mr. Ruggiero is displaying every indication of looking at obtaining signatures as a way that will benefit his election chances.

That is just plain wrong. Ruggiero's poor interaction with 2 councilors (I have it on tape,) his telling the media that the Police Chief would have to talk about Stephen LeBert when the chief made it clear that he wouldn't; Ruggiero's bizarre phone call to me about how he knows he's "divisive," and the fact that he's been here just one year, does not show a "leader" with a good grasp of the facts.

     Is Ruggiero intelligent? Yes.

Has he made some moves that show a lack of common sense? Absolutely.

Has he made you and the city a priority or himself?

Until an individual has spent years in our community and understanding the nuances of life in Medford, floating in here like Mary Poppins and shamelessly being opportunistic means that were (God forbid,) Ruggiero able to get onto the school committee or city council, we would have just another self-serving Dello Russo, Knight or Scarpelli - or Burke, where they come first, you serve them, public servant means that the public is the servant and they are kings and queens and jacks and ....well, they refuse to look in the mirror because they are all jokers.

Some people in Medford have fought hard to bring about change: Michael Marks, Breanna Lungo-Koehn, Bob Penta, Anthony D'Antonio, Robert Cappucci. They have my respect.

We see tangible results. Mr. Ruggiero and his admission of being "divisive" is better suited for New York City. Of course he would get lost in the shuffle there, because he doesn't have the ability to say the right thing.

A first meeting with Ruggiero and he is a charming man. By meeting #4 you see what he is all about: opportunistically looking for votes and upsetting a lot of people in the process. I was on Mr. Ruggiero's side until I saw him throw two people I respect, two city councilors, under the bus at the library. It was truly shocking, and Ruggiero's true colors were exposed. Amy, you have to study these things closely.
