Column 2. Paragraph
Director Tom McCarthy might as well be speaking about this news site

What “Spotlight” makes particularly vivid is the workaholism of the
reporters. They’re shown persistently digging into public records and
doggedly tracking down sources and interviewing them carefully and
respectfully.

They’re consumed by the story.
Sound familiar, Medford? Retired Lt. J J MxLxxxx will tell the D.A.'s office that you are "obsessed." Really? A good reporter doing his job is "obsessed."
Were it that the Medford Police Dept. would be "obsessed" with:
38K still not accounted for at MCC TV3
A police chief saying a victim has "issues" when one of his own men in blue allegedly cheated on his own wife, only to sock the girlfriend in the lip and land her 8 stitches in the hospital.
For a year, McCarthy said, “They put
everything on hold, including their family lives.” Which is why
“Spotlight” has few scenes showing reporters interacting with family
members, and those scenes are very brief.
