Anthony D'Antonio has shown courage - competing for a second time against a Goliath like the McGlynn Machine, allegations of sign-stealing and the squelching of Free Speech surrounding the McGlynn Administration right down to the former state rep's first run for Mayor, when 10 votes allegedly and mysteriously went from McGlynn's cousin's column, the late Marilyn Porreca, to then little Mike's column and - voila - we've had 26 years of self-promotion and family funny business in the city where there is no public access channel, no forum for any opponent to get the word out about River's Edge, potholes, empty storefronts, the third-world ghost town that McGlynn is the architect of, a city that pales when compared to Stoneham, Arlington, Winchester (all towns) and the cities of Somerville and Malden.

There are many voters who stay at home, which is what candidate Michael J. McGlynn wants.    The suppression of the vote is not just a tactic of the Grand Old Party, in fact, the Medford Democratic party is as adept as the Tea Party branch of the Republican party at deception, taking things out of context, exaggeration ("Leadership that Works" as a slogan for a Mayor whose Mystic Valley Development Commission lost a 4 million dollar suit over at River's Edge.  Who was the attorney for the MVDC and was there any conflict of interest???)

Did you hear about Hillary Clinton receiving an award in the United Kingdom and her car getting tagged for illegal parking?  The American Revolution has come full circle - McGlynn acting like a king with allegations that he - Mike McGlynn - parked his daddy's car in a bus stop 26 days out from an election.

We are now 19 days to election day.

Free Speech has been suppressed, squelched by a Mayor who sends the City Solicitor up to the podium on or about November 15, 2008 to tell the Honorable Judge Marie O. Jackson-Thompson that the city that doesn't have access TV doesn't indulge in the squelching of Free Speech.

Kids today don't know Vinny Piro.  That's because anyone 26 or under who has lived in Medford their entire life has only known the suspicious character known as Michael J. McGlynn as their mayor.  McGlynn saw what happened to Vinny Piro, losing to a write-in candidate when Somerville Access TV did a "mock trial" of the FBI case against Piro.  Piro had walked between the raindrops, escaping - allegedly - because a woman politician allegedly tipped him off that he was being watched.  The mock trial the night before the election might not be the only reason Piro lost, but that's a mighty big might.  McGlynn doesn't want to take any chances, so he unethically failed to do the right thing as Issuing Authority and open up the TV station after the evidence from the judge and the auditors was in.

VINNY PIRO SYNDROME

Piro's political career also suffered because of his two trials on charges of conspiracy and attempted extortion. Albano used the "corruption factor" to engineer his defeat of Piro in the Senate race. One of Albano's leaflets quoted from FBI tapes of Piro allegedly arranging a payoff, planning to "grease a few guys." http://somervillethen.blogspot.com/2012/11/old-guard-no-more.html

For McGlynn, the lesson of Vinnie Piro was that community media is a powerful tool and if you have too many skeletons in your closet you cannot allow access television to flourish.  Turn on TV3 right now, Channel 3 Comcast, and see evidence that McGlynn has failed to lead.  Leadership that has failed the cable tv subscribers.  Do you think McGlynn would even have a chance of winning were I able to play some tapes for you on access TV?

It would be "Goodbye, Mike" after all these years.  McGlynn is squelching Free Speech and stifling the First Amendment because his hands are unclean.  Unclean hands on the unclean 26-year incumbent.  And shame on the Patch for putting only ONE PHOTO and not both candidates.

Shame on Patch for being part of the problem.

 Dear Patch,

Your article on the faux "Candidate's Night," which residents perceive as a debate but which the cronies behind it call a "forum" - failed to have a photo of Mr. D'Antonio

To quote the duplicitous Ms. Rosen, "In the interest of fairness" could you please put D'Antonio's photo up on the Patch site without McGlynn for the rest of the day?

Thank you.
