McLaughlin indicted on federal charges alleging rigged housing inspections

Attorney General Martha Coakley is prosecuting that case, and she accuses McLaughlin of using his position as director of the Chelsea Housing Authority to solicit his employees to attend fundraisers for Murray. He is also accused of asking a housing authority employee to collect contributions for Murray and to distribute invitations to Murray fundraisers.
Murray agreed to pay an $80,000 civil penalty in connection with the allegations, and returned $50,000 in campaign donations from three fundraisers allegedly connected to McLaughlin.
