Letter to the Two Sisters / Medford Mass Yahoogroup

Dear Two Sisters Antiques:

I remember at least one of you being at the pay-to-park hearing that I videotaped in Room 207 about a year ago, September 2014, so we both have been active in fighting for the entire community.

The fundraiser in Boston for Mrs. Burke https://instagram.com/p/6VzE0alntg/
appears to have raised outside money.  Mayor McGlynn has a brother who is a powerful lobbyist.

When a candidate for council and a candidate for mayor have so many outside interests pouring money into their campaigns, it is not good for our city.  How is the Republic Parking thing working out for you in West Medford?  Just one example.

As much as I like Stephanie as a person and voted for her to be on the council, it is obvious to me that photos of her with McGlynn and the councilors mentioned in my previous post show a candidate benefiting from outside resources.

I'm glad you admire her and have your point of view.  But the facts surrounding the Burke campaign outweigh the appeal Mrs. Burke has with women and with people that know her.  Mrs. Burke's participation in the case of Officer Jimmy Lee was lacking.

She takes her marching orders from a lame duck Mayor who never seemed to work this hard for his own campaigns as he is for Mrs. Burke's campaign.

That's a huge red flag.

Every candidate I've spoken with - from school committee to city council to mayor all agree that we need public access TV for this election.  I have fought hard for it, to the point where I put in a proposal on March 26th when the Mayor's restrictive demands scared all the other potential bidders off.  Yet we have no access TV.

Some people have opinions while others will fight for your rights at the city council, in the press, and by proposing a new facility.  My proposal called for the mayor to step away from being the "issuing authority" and allowing the 7 members of the city council to oversee access TV.  Of course speaking logically and not saying what the mayor wanted to hear was reason enough for him to just keep access TV
shut till after the election.

This journalist taped 60 minutes of the pay-to-park, and the members of the city council endorsing Mrs. Burke refused to vote to air the documentary on the parking program.  That speaks volumes.

All due respect, Two Sisters, but your position on Stephanie Burke doesn't make sense when looking at the facts of the monies she is raising, how she is raising those monies and the non-Medford forces that she will owe if, God forbid, she gets into office.

Having a better attendance record at the city council, arguably, than some councilors, the empirical evidence my videos and memory provide this community has some value.

But I am glad you are voting and urge everyone to vote, no matter which candidate you vote for.

Best

Joe Viglione
