From the Editor:
Hello John and group:
No
one should "bullet," or just haphazardly check off new names in this
critical election. Making a careful evaluation of the new faces and old
is vital for
Medford's progress.
The
mix that I presented features John Falco - a veteran of the school
committee, Bill O'Keefe, formerly of the school committee, Breanna L-K
and Michael Marks, two veterans of the council, Mark Crowley, the man
who should have been councilor (he came very close in 2013) and two new
faces, Mr. McSweeney and Ms. Eforo. Neal and Leonore are two of these
"new faces."
I've met Neal twice now and think he has the
right platform and attitude. Leonore's one interview in the Transcript is a good start. I look forward to what
she
has to say in the debates and that could confirm my first impression or
change my vote. We citizens do reserve the right to change our minds.
Mr. Osborne, Mr. Scarpelli, Mr. D'Aveta are all
capable as well.
Key here is that these people know Medford. Two
of the candidates, one knocked out by the primary,
are new to Medford and haven't impressed me.
"Bulleting" a new face just for the sake of that person being a "new face" could be disastrous.
With 14 candidates, having a mix of veterans and
two "new faces" (I consider Crowley, O'Keefe and
Falco rather well known) brings a consistency.
ALL new faces could be a prescription for mayhem.
just one citizen's perspective having studied this
current city council week after week after week.

Matt,
I agree fully with your comments and do not intend to "bullet" either.
As for Mr. O'Keefe, no one one should be on the fence regarding Bill.
He is a fresh face who thinks out of the box. He is intelligent and he
really cares about us as citizens and the future of our city. He is
exactly the kind of fresh face I referred to. I hope more people feel
the same way and turn out to vote.John Reilly
