NO ONE IN MEDFORD SEEMS TO KNOW ABOUT THE RADIO / TV ADVISORY COMMITTEE...
HOW SNEAKY, ROY!
ISN'T THERE AN OPEN MEETING LAW, AND DO YOU NOT HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO THE PUBLIC TO NOT SECRETLY POST IN YOUR MEN'S ROOM BUT POST IT SOMEWHERE SO THAT THE PUBLIC CAN ACTUALLY READ IT?
LAST NIGHT I MET THREE OF FOURTEEN PEOPLE ON A RADIO / TV ADVISORY COMMITTEE....INCLUDING PAUL GERETY
GO FIGURE...
Atty Kim Scanlon
Public Records Access Officer for the City of Medford
Alicia Palmer
Public Records Access Officer for the Medford Public Schools

Dear Atty Scanlon, Keeper of the Records, Custodian of the Records,
Under the Massachusetts Public Records Act § 66-10 et seq., I am requesting an opportunity to inspect or obtain copies of public records that contain:
1)All
the meeting information on the Radio/TV Advisory Committee (which I
can't find on any city website) I met with Mr. Paul Gerety last night
and two other individuals who informed me of this 12-14 person
committee.
2)All documents from the Radio/TV Advisory Committee
3)A
list of the names of appointees to the Radio/TV Advisory Committee with
hope that the person who appointed them is listed on the document
If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please
inform me if the cost will exceed $ 5.00 However, I would also like
to request a waiver of all fees in that the disclosure of the requested
information is in the public interest and will contribute significantly
to the public’s understanding of public access television which cable
subscribers fund via the franchise fee. It would be excellent for this
to be published on the school and city websites as all other boards and
committees seem to be.
MEDIA CREDENTIALS for PUBLIC RECORDS REQUEST
I am a member of the media, as you know, published in many books and with a website - at this writing - with 997,936
page views at 7:30 pm June 15, about 2,064 hits away from 1 million, so
this is of great public interest. In fact, the city council president
noted in a court of law that he is a regular reader, and we believe it
to be the alleged favorite page of the Medford city solicitor, though he
might not admit it.
We
are read on Beacon Hill, at the Medford Housing Authority and,
according to former mayoral candidate John Byers, it is "required
reading" at the Medford Police Department. The School Superintendent's
direct responses to our magazine, though a bit skewed, make us think
that we can count Mr. Belson as a loyal reader as well.
This
information is not being sought for commercial purposes, though my
website is an official business listed in the city clerk's office. As
it is not being used for business purposes yet is of great public
interest, I would be happy if you merely published all the requested
information on the city website.
The Massachusetts Public Records Act requires a response to this
request within 10 days. If access to the records I am requesting will
take longer than this amount of time, please contact me with information
about when I might expect copies or the ability to inspect the
requested records.
If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific
exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and
notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.
Thank you for considering my request.
I
want to especially commend Attorney Scanlon for her professionalism in
previous public records requests. We need more government officials
like Ms. Scanlon.
Sincerely,
