Candidates Cheated by Incumbent

From Sunset Road to Sunset Boulevard:

"Alright Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up"

And the lucky winners are?  You gotta be kidding!  In the aforementioned 1950's film, according to this You actress Gloria Swanson plays a crazed attention-driven actress named "Norma Desmond".

Let us repeat - a phrase so nice we'll say it twice:

From Sunset Road to Sunset Boulevard:

"Alright Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up"

A certain 26 year incumbent no longer has his charade of an access TV station to keep politicians from getting any traction in this city.  So now the Mayor's de facto personal videographer, paid a salary as a high school teacher with P/E/G monies, is going to give 5 minutes to each politician.

McGlynn could CERTAINLY have an access station up and running, and it is ONLY from the complaints of this writer at the City Council that McGlynn is forced to throw his opponents and the other candidates a crumb.  But here is what I will explain to the City Council tonight at 7 PM:

McGlynn could have offered this service to the candidates back on April Fool's Day when the now-defunct access tv entity allegedly went off the air for good.  McGlynn waited until the very last moment, with 27 days to go.  So while Mike McGlynn is out posturing for this event or that, while photo after photo gets into the local news media, McGlynn allegedly has a board member from the embattled station on the weekly newspaper wearing his TV shirt and claiming - falsely - that he is a legitimate candidate to take on the McGlynn machine.

   WHO IS JACK DEMPSEY?

http://www.jdsportsvideo.com/

The owner of JDSports Video is paid for, according to a public request that I submitted to the high school, by YOUR P/E/G monies.  That's right. Rather than have a full, functional studio at the high school, McGlynn has opted to play fast and loose with the cash and hire THREE teachers instead.  So much for public access in Medford.  While the access you pay for is flourishing in cities and towns surrounding Medford, Medford has ALWAYS been the joke of the access TV world.    Do you know how much money the former station paid to submit videos for "awards" and then take those awards out of context and say they are voted best station in the world?  Please.  A station that charged candidates to appear on the air, and the individual who got the payments, which anyone can get copies of at the Registrars of Voters office - that person...oh, he was making an appearance in Somerville District Court this morning on charges of an alleged false bomb threat.    Guess the legal fees won't be paid this year by the candidates purchasing "video services" which guaranteed them air time while the citizens were blocked and bullied out of using the same facility.

More about this tonight at the City Council at 7 PM

More breaking news you'll only find on this Patch essay: November 7 is the date in Somerville District Court for Stanley Komins and Stephen Komins regarding the alleged scandal at the also now-defunct West Medford Hillside Little League.  Here are the parallels: both the TV3 self-appointed president and president Komins were in power for the same amount of time; incumbent Mayor Michael J. McGlynn appears to have had close ties to both embattled (now defunct) entities; both entities failed to show the books to Medford residents, and on October 8, 2013 a former board member of TV3 was in Somerville District Court while on November 7, 2013 Mr. Komins has another day in court.

Talk about a lack of transparency in our city.  More information on this at the Council tonight.
