SITTING NEXT TO ME AT A WEDDING, *(THE NOW NO-LONGER) REVEREND EUGENE O'SULLIVAN (*- he was still a rapist priest back then in the 1970s...) OF ARLINGTON CHASTISED ME FOR READING 'SCIENCE AND HEALTH WITH KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES' BY MARY BAKER EDDY, one of my all-time favorite writers, AT THAT WEDDING.
(WEDDINGS BORE ME! I JUST NEEDED SOMETHING TO READ!)
I SHOULD HAVE SAID:
"Hey Gene, reading Mrs. Eddy's works is more enlightening than raping altar boys" but, to paraphrase Aunty Em in The Wizard of Oz, being a good Christian boy I just couldn't say it!!!

In fact, if Rev O'Sullivan read the works of Mrs. Eddy instead of committing rape, he'd still be a priest today! Think about it!!!

Ask me about our "sex education class" with Reverend McGlaughlin (the students nicknamed him "grape" because of his long face.) There was only ONE sex ed class where he was probably picking out his alleged prey.
Creepy!
(McLaughlin's little blue car was always filthy, dirty with dust and mud. One of the students wrote GRAPEMOBILE in the dust.
Too funny.

Summary of Case: There are multiple accusations of sexual abuse of altar boys against O'Sullivan throughout his career, dating to at least 1964. He was also accused of having sexually abused two nephews over many years. He was transferred within the Boston archdiocese each time accusations surfaced. He was convicted in 1984 of raping a boy in Massachusetts, and transferred in 1985 by Cardinal Law to the diocese of Metuchen, NJ. O'Sullivan was brought back to Massachusetts in 1992, where he was allowed to continue to wear a Roman collar. He was defrocked in 2005.
