My response:
As the Medford Transcript knows, my opinion is that without public access TV, the new candidates didn't have a chance. Chris D'Aveta is a good guy and is on the City and Ward Committee, so he is known to the Democrats in Medford, the 5 candidates that didn't break 1,000 are not well known in political circles. I put in a proposal, on time, in March of this year so that the candidates would have a tv station, something cable TV subscribers pay for. School Committee has always been the starting point for new faces specifically because there has never been a real access TV station in Medford. My advice to the newcomers is that without cable TV, they need to get their names and faces out there. Having a new school committee would be refreshing, all due respect to the incumbents, as crop rotation is good for the harvest. The majority of Medford residents seem too busy with their lives to understand the importance of local elections. Status Quo is more than just a great British band.
