Ray Scarfo sent this over:
Replying on the Penta points published March 9th 2017 in the Medford Transcript, with all due respect to the current Mayor the bulk of problems in the city were generated from the past administration. The problem I have is the Mayor has not brought the sides together to work on the problems, that would be a real leader, she leads by arrogance.
Point in case, about 6 months ago I addressed the City Council on the deplorable condition on the pavement of Swan St. This Street is traveled by numerous tankers and tank home heating fuel trucks carrying 2500 to 12,000 gallons of fuel. The Street is so uneven that this could cause a hazardous condition. I as a resident and owner of a home heating oil delivery company based in the city for 30 years, one of my 2900 gallon trucks broke a main spring and a piece of that metal came within 1" from penetrating the main tank, this would have caused an incredible fuel spill that would have shut down area businesses. With the clean up of the area that would take months probably will extend to the river. The cost for the clean up and shut down of businesses would run into the millions.
Two months ago Bob Penta addressed the City Council on my behalf on this matter since I had not received any answer. What I was told the next day by a Council member that they will have the pot holes filled. I responded that it's not the pot holes it is the Street that so uneven that you bounce like a ball at a slow rate of speed. This is a hazardous condition waiting to happen. I was also told that because Bob had spoke about this, it was given "the kiss of death" that there will be no new paved street.(lead by arrogance)
Therefore I will send a letter to the Mayor, To each City Council Member, and the Department Of Transportation, that the city should be held responsible if this should happen. It's time to lead not to play politics because this could effect all of us.
Cheryl Rodriguez (response)
Of course the response on Medford Politics was to say that he was mean because Burke won and he lost...there seems to be no meaningful discussion about important things in this city. At least not on Facebook...I hope people are considering these things in real life. 😂
