Broderson impeached on unanimous vote - hey George, make it easy on yourself, impeach Stephanie NOW!
MUSCATINE — In a meeting that lasted less than three minutes, the Muscatine City Council voted unanimously Thursday to remove Mayor Diana Broderson.
A silence swept over the room as residents, members of the media and city officials filed into the Council Chambers and Broderson called the meeting to order. With no discussion, Alderman Allen Harvey, fifth ward, said "after having accepted and reviewed the evidence, exhibits and arguments on both sides ... I move that the Council execute Mr. Nahra's proposal order and remove the mayor from office."
In Prosecutor John Nahra's written proposal, he ordered "the Mayor be immediately removed from office of the mayor of the city of Muscatine," and ordered Broderson to "immediately relinquish all city property to the city clerk."
Alderman Santos Saucedo seconded the motion, and with a seven-to-zero vote, aldermen agreed to remove Broderson.
Residents mumbled "that's it" and asked if "there's no discussion from the audience" once Broderson adjourned the meeting.
